- For beach lovers, Plantation Village is just a short drive from Wrightsville Beach on the Atlantic Ocean, and to the other beaches of the Cape Fear Coast.
- For history lovers, Plantation Village is just 15 to 20 minutes from Historic Downtown Wilmington, with its cobblestone streets, museums, antique shops and restaurants overlooking the Cape Fear River. Join us for historic tours with the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society, as well as participate in local events celebrating the history of Wilmington.
- For golf lovers, enjoy discounted fees at nearby Olde Point Golf and Country Club, or enjoy any of the fifteen public golf courses locally.
- For knowledge seekers, the Activities Calendar includes book clubs; computer classes, in-house lectures on a wide variety of current topics, study groups, and participation in the Osher Lifelong Learning Programs in partnership with the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
- For cultural enrichment, join neighbors for local and state-wide excursions to the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, NC Museum of Art in Raleigh, special events at the Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts, Cameron Art Museum, annual North Carolina Azalea Festival, Downtown Wilmington Riverfest, Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, Cape Fear Jazz Festival, Main Stage Performance series at UNCW, Chamber Music Series, and Red Barn Studio Theater … just to name a few.

- For the creative-minded, our arts and crafts studio and woodworking shop are a haven for new ideas. Join us for our art classes in the Crafts Studio.
- For the spiritual-minded, the community promotes spiritual growth opportunities by enabling on campus, non-denominational, biblical studies, spiritual services, and transportation to local churches and synagogues.
- For the civic-minded, Plantation Village encourages volunteerism in the community, such as tutoring in the local schools and assisting at the associated Davis Community's health care center and assisted living community. Our residents also support a variety of non-profit organizations with their services and donations.
- And … just for fun, there are afternoon and evening bridge groups, patio bar socials and on-going events such as resident receptions, formal balls and theme parties to entertain and delight you.
